Please just stop meowing!!!

What is it with animals as they get older, specifically cats. At first I thought it was just my cat but T stayed with a friend while out of town and their older cat was the same.
My cat jewel is around 17 years old. I got her from a rescue shelter when she was 6 months old. She was incredibly timid and it was a few weeks before she would even sit in my lap. She has always been a talker but now she never stops. Ever.
She meows when she wants to be petted, She meows when you pet her. She meows when she has to go to the bathroom, she meows after she goes. She meows if her food bowl is not filled to the brim, she meows if she wants table food thought she sniffs it and walks away. She meows if she realizes she is in a room by herself, she meows at her reflection in the window. She meows if you move, make any noise or even breath heavy while you are sleeping.
I love her but the meowing is making me crazy. If I ever get another cat I want one that doesn’t ever make any noise at all.

The best years of your life

Many many mothers stumble thru the day wondering how both they and their children are still alive as they lay down in bed at night still in their Jammie’s from the night before. They are overwhelmed with exhaustion, have not showered, the sink is full of dishes, the floor scattered with toys, things were added to instead of taken off the to do list. This is the first time they have relaxed all day yet can’t figure out what exactly they did all day as nothing seems finished. I know. I have been there.

I have sat in the middle of the kitchen and cried, begged my daughter to let me put her down for five minutes, and felt like a shitty parent. But the truth is we chose to be parents, to have this life.

One day these little people won’t need us so much, our arms will be empty, our beds cold as we sleep without them. Our clothes will be clean instead of covered in boogers, smeared with peanut butter, and we’ll miss it.
Yes the house does need to be cleaned, laundry done, dinner cooked. We have phone calls to make, email to check. But it can wait because right now we are their entire world and they need us more. Right now is not going to last so enjoy that sweaty little body wrapped around yours, that dirty face nuzzling your neck. Savor the messy room, the gooey kisses, and the laughter that fills the house. Stop and breath and look around you. These are the best days of your life, this is when memories are made.
